The Xi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Arlington Foundation for Excellence in Education, will host its 11th annual Youth Education Success (YES!) Summit on October 10, 2015 at the University of Texas at Arlington.
The YES Summit is a unique, complimentary, teen-focused event that provides valuable educational workshops and resources to over 300 youth and over 100 parents in and around Tarrant County. The YES Summit addresses today’s growing needs for life skills, math and science career awareness, and educational preparedness. The theme of the 2015 Summit is “Imagine the Possibilities” where we will challenge youth to go beyond the current spectrum of life and to imagine themselves for the future and beyond.
This event caters to students in grades 7-12 and provides them with an opportunity to network with their peers, as well as attend a variety of workshops on leadership and self-sufficiency for academic and personal success. The 2015 Summit will feature a motivational speaker, valuable workshops, and exhibitors. In addition, the YES Summit provides educational workshops and resources to parents to encourage them to become more involved in their students’ education. Potential workshop topics for the 2015 YES Summit include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) awareness and education, college preparation, self-development, importance of choices, transition into adulthood, career goals and much, much more!
Attendees of this complimentary event will receive breakfast, lunch, and some wonderful and exciting giveaways. The YES Summit targets the Arlington and surrounding communities’ youth with the goal to inspire and push them to imagine the possibilities.
